I enjoy eating healthy and keeping up with good fitness practices such as going for a hike or a long walk. However, I will usually not engage in going to the gym to exercise unless I have a workout buddy.

The top three reasons why I would prefer to go to the Gold Gym with someone else, instead of alone, are listed below:

1. Get Me Out Of My House!

I need motivation. I usually do not feel like leaving the comfort of my own home to go sweat all over my gym clothes and move my body in crazy positions in front of strangers while I am all alone. Therefore, if I call a friend to join me, I will not only have the responsibility of showing up, I will also feel the accountability of doing my entire training routine from start to finish regardless of how silly I think that I look. Plus, it helps to have someone to talk to and they usually help me carry my huge workout bag.

2. I Need Help On This Machine!

I have never been one to feel comfortable on gym machines. Even when I use them frequently, I still feel that I need some reassurance and that I need to have someone there with me to tell me if my form is correct. Plus, it feels nice to have someone there. We can hold each others gym towel and keep track of reps so that we can individually concentrate and focus on resistance and range of motion. It is as if we both have a personal trainer there with us for free!

3. I Need Support!

Some of us need more support than others. The fact that I perform better with a friend at my side does not mean that I am weak or emotionally needy. It simply stresses the importance of encouragement and knowing that we are not alone when it comes to fitness. People need people and if this means setting a schedule to work out with my buddy in order to make my life better and my body more efficient then why not?
